A research team at UNIST has developed a new method to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of green hydrogen production using anion-exchange membrane water electrolyzers (AEMWEs). This method involves using potassium to prevent the oxidation of ionomers, which enhances the durability and performance of hydrogen production devices. The technique employs a non-platinum metal catalyst, reducing production costs while maintaining high efficiency. This breakthrough could significantly advance the commercialization of low-cost, high-performance hydrogen production technologies.
