This article highlights the launch of HYPOD-X, the first open database designed to support data-driven research in the field of quasicrystals and their approximants. Quasicrystals, known for their unique non-periodic symmetries and distinct physical properties, have been challenging to study due to the lack of comprehensive data. HYPOD-X addresses this gap by compiling structured datasets on compositions, phase diagrams, and physical properties, extracted from scientific literature and rigorously validated by experts. The database enables advancements in machine learning applications, such as discovering new quasicrystals and analyzing their thermal, electrical, and magnetic behaviors. It also facilitates the prediction of new quasicrystal phases and the development of innovative materials like thermal rectifiers. The research group plans to expand HYPOD-X, promising new insights and accelerated progress in quasicrystal science.
