Researchers have gained new insights into the formation of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in type-Ib diamonds, essential for quantum technologies like quantum sensing and computing. Using a controlled irradiation and annealing process, they demonstrated how NV center density and depth can be significantly increased by adjusting temperature and crystal orientation. This study advances our understanding of diamond-based quantum systems and opens new possibilities for enhancing NV centers in various applications.
